There is a profile of Stephen in Woodturning magazine February 2009.
Stephen’s work covers all aspects of woodturning, from spindle work i.e.furniture, rocking chairs, stools, dining chairs, spinning wheels etc. to hollow forms, natural edged vases/ bowls, coloured and or textured bowls including translucent work.and a form called “a peeling vase”.
A recent commission from the Worshipful Company of Musicians was for a 4- way music stand presented to the Lord Mayor of London.
I am very fortunate to be working with the most beautiful of all natural materials – wood, and I feel I release the spirit of the wood, so that each piece is unique.
I examine every log carefully to release the best of the grain and features, to enhance the beauty of the form.
